John Paul International College opened its doors in 1997, welcoming its very first international students into small, personal classrooms. What began as a handful of students and a dedicated founding staff has grown into a College that has shaped thousands of futures – without ever losing the close-knit, family feel it started with.
Thirty years on, that same spirit of care, culture and academic ambition still runs through every classroom, every villa at Fenton Village, and every graduation we celebrate.

From our first graduating class to national award recognition – a look back at the moments that shaped who we are today.

John Paul International College welcomed its first international students into small, close-knit classrooms – the beginning of three decades dedicated to global education.

The College's first cohort of international graduates crossed the stage – the first of thousands of success stories still to come.

JPIC represented Queensland international education at an overseas exhibition, building the global partnerships that continue to connect us with families today.
After months of construction, JPIC opened the Crockett Building – our first dedicated international education facility – with an official ceremony celebrating the cultures of every nation calling JPIC home, covered by The Courier-Mail. That same year, our now-treasured Foundation Day tradition began.

Co-curricular life flourished, with the Soccer Program's graduation marking one of many pathways JPIC students found to belong, compete and grow.
The College won the IDP Award for Excellence and Innovation in International Education – Australia's top national award in the field, and the first time a school had ever won it against a field of universities. The same year, our Primary Preparation Program opened its doors to our youngest international learners.

Enrolments and programs continued to grow, cementing JPIC's place as a leading destination for international students in Queensland.
The Hong Kong Australia Business Association presented JPIC with its Business Development Award – recognition of the partnerships, agent relationships and family trust we had built across Hong Kong and the wider region.

NEAS Australia gave our High School Preparation Course the inaugural “Gold Standard” Premium Product endorsement – the first course in the country ever to receive it. The assessing panel was unanimous.
JPIC Academy, our own online learning platform, won the NEAS National Premium Product Award – proof that the quality students meet in our classrooms is matched by what they meet on screen.
JPIC won the International Education and Training Award at the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards – the state's highest export honour – then represented Queensland as a national finalist at the 60th Australian Export Awards in Canberra. In the same year JPIC Academy won a second NEAS Premium Product Award, and Logan named us its Tourism business of the year for 25 years of study tours.

John Paul College was named a 5-Star Innovative School by The Educator, recognising Australia's first Premium Homestay Program. The same year our Extended Day Program began, so care and learning continued long after the last bell.

The Extended Day Program was named an Excellence Awardee for Best Student Wellbeing Program at the Australian Education Awards. Academic support, wellbeing workshops, community dinners and co-curricular activities now reach every Premium Homestay student.
JPIC launched Global Outbound Trips, giving our students the chance to study and travel abroad as part of their JPIC journey – taking what they've learned here out into the world. In the same year John Paul College was named one of The Australian's Top 100 Private Schools and a 5-Star Best School by The Educator.

JPIC launched a Transnational Education Preparation course, extending our expertise beyond our own campus to help prepare students at partner institutions for international study. JPIC was also named a finalist again in the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards for International Education and Training.
