There has been some positive news about Australia's international and Queensland's borders in the past week.
Vaccines Approved for Travel to Australia
- Pfizer (Comirnaty)
- AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria)
- Janssen-Cilag (COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen)
- Moderna (Spikevax)
- Coronavac (Sinovac)
- Covishield (AstraZeneca/Serum Institute of India)
What we know
Queensland has now released its plan to return to normal life.
From 17 December , restrictions on international travel will be eased significantly. This may happen sooner if the state achieves 80% vaccination earlier.
New South Wales is the first state in Australia to allow international travellers to come into Australia without needing to quarantine. Travellers must be fully vaccinated with an Australian recognised vaccine.
From November, only Australian citizens and permanent residents will be allowed to travel in and out of Australia. But, we expect international students to be allowed to travel not long after.
The John Paul International College Homestay Program will remain open over the summer holidays. We will run some holiday activities for students.
What we don’t know
- We do not know the date when international students will be able to travel in and out of Australia
- We do not know if or when other vaccines will be recognised by the Australian government
John Paul International will keep you updated as the Australian and Queensland Governments make announcements about borders.
