| This year, Wen SUN, a student from Hubei in China, has been awarded John Paul College’s greatest academic honour, the Munns’ Prize for Dux of the College. Wen SUN joined John Paul International College in Level 4 with some English. He was very shy and hardly communicated with anyone in class. “At first, Wen had difficulty expressing himself verbally and in written form and had difficulty understanding instructions in English, but asked for assistance and clarification”, his English Level 4 teacher Mary Gabriel commented. |
Wen SUN entered Year 10 during 2012 and over the last two and a half years, he quickly became known for his academic excellence and commitment to success in learning. He had already been acknowledged as one of the top students in the graduating cohort and had received Year 12 Academic Honours. In addition to this, Wen also achieved a Summa Cum Laude Award and a Pro-Diligentia Award in both Year 11 and Year 12; the only two years he has been eligible for these Awards. He was undoubtedly at the top of his cohort throughout the year and has shown that dedication to learning and a strong work ethic lead to great success.
As Dux of our College, Wen has achieved a level of success that only few can consistently accomplish.
Last year, as a Year 11 student, Wen also achieved academic honours and three subject prizes.
Wen continues to go from strength to strength. In addition to achieving academic honours at Speech Night, he collected four subject prizes by being the highest achiever in Mathematics B, Mathematics C, Chemistry and Chinese.
Wen is consistently recognised by his peers and his teachers as an intelligent, dedicated and humble student willing to help others achieve success and attain their own personal best results
