In much welcomed news, the Australian Government recently announced the opening of Australia's international borders in November.
John Paul College is working with Independent Schools Queensland towards an exemption plan for our current onshore enrolled international students to return home over the 2021/22 summer holiday and return to Queensland in January 2022 for the start of Term 1.
We would like to update you on the situation as we currently know as of 4th November 2021.
What we know:
In order for us to help your child to gain an exemption:
- Confirm enrolment for 2022 by paying the tuition fee by 22nd November - an invoice will be sent to you shortly.
- Your child must have a valid student visa and current passport
- Your child must be fully vaccinated.
- Students should have their vaccination certificate ready
What we don't know:
- When a travel exemption will be approved
- Clear details about return quarantine requirements for Australia are yet to be advised.
The granting of an exemption for a student is by no means certain, and the final decision regarding student travel exemptions will be made by the Australian Government authorities.
We recommend that you do not book any flights at this point in time.
We continue to work with the authorities and will update you as information becomes available.
