| Reflection
During my time at John Paul College, I have had a chance to not only grow as a student but also as a young adult who is fully aware of my role in our society. That is to say, my experiences at JPC have definitely shaped me into the person that I am today. If I was to pick my most memorable experience, it would definitely be my time of continuous learning during the global pandemic of Covid-19.
Online learning at home definitely has its pros and cons. Nevertheless, JPC has definitely managed to maximise our learning capacity while keeping me on track with my studies. The fact that I needed to get up and check in on time encouraged me to start off my day with discipline and energy. In fact, my PC teacher was so caring that he took his time to reply to every single of his students’ messages and wished us an amazing day every day.

Living away from home it was really difficult for me as an international student living in Australia as I could not see my family in Vietnam. I was also faced with uncertainty. Undeniably, there were moments where I wanted to come home. There were times where I felt like giving up. There were sleepless days of me lying on my bed, thinking about my uncertain future. And yet, I was fortunate enough to have my teachers, peers and homestay family who always supported me unconditionally.
My experience at JPC is certainly a highlight during my time in Australia. It is just like a second family where I can not only grow as a student but as an individual. It has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and reached my fullest potential.
Three key things I would like to share with future JPC international students:
- Life abroad is not a pink painting- it is about the ups and the downs that make us grow as individuals
- Don’t procrastinate.
- There will be times where you feel lonely and all you need to know is that everyone goes through these feelings to become stronger.
I would love to express my sincere gratitude to everyone- my friends, my teachers and my homestay. Thanks to them, I have had an amazing time in Australia.
