We celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival at morning tea, with traditional treats from different countries for our overseas students. The excitement was evident as the International Student Services Team prepared the treats, which were clearly appreciated by our overseas students who gathered eagerly to collect one of the delicacies from Principal, Mrs Spiller and the International Student Services team.
The Mid-Autumn Festival has a history over thousands of years. It is celebrated notably by the Asian community and is a time to get together and give thanks. Families celebrate in a variety of ways by eating traditional Festival food and hanging and lighting lanterns. Traditional feed, such as mooncake, dango and songpyun are very popular at this family time. As a school community, we support one another in times of need, and this includes looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of our overseas students. The JPC Community wanted to celebrate this special time of year with our overseas students who have been away from their families for an extended period.
