My name is Ken Kondo from Saitama in Japan. I’m a Year 12 graduate from John Paul College in Queensland, Australia.
I was 12 years old when I arrived in Australia. I literally spoke no English – in fact my teacher emailed my parents to say that it would be a great challenge for me studying in Australia. Under my teachers’ guidance at John Paul International College, I improved my English very fast.
I think that the small class sizes and being taught all subjects in English rather than my own language was particularly helpful. My teachers were strict at times, but they genuinely cared about my progression and success.
I’ve really valued my time at John Paul College. It’s offered a safe and supportive environment with multiple career pathways. I’m excited for my future as a globally-aware, open-minded citizen ready to embrace the world.
