​​ Level 3A HSP Classroom Insights

Level 3A have been working hard this term. They have been learning about events, stories and the news, so the focus has been on past tense and events in the past. They have listened to some BTN’s on the First Fleet, aborigines and school in the olden days. In addition, they have been learning how to write opinions with examples to support, and how to write a summary of both listening and reading texts. Every day, the students have to present a prepared, one-minute oral presentation on a simple topic. This has improved their presentation skills. At the moment, Level 3A are working on a biography of a famous Australian, which they will make into an information report. Finally, the students will present their research information as an oral presentation.

Maths

Level 3A have been hard at work developing their mathematical vocabulary and practising decoding and solving worded problems from topics such as fractions/decimals/percentages, financial maths and algebra. All students are working hard and striving to achieve on their final assessment items in Week Eight.

Science

The students have been in the laboratory learning how to use scientific equipment and names through doing chemistry experiments. There is a lot of language to understand and the students are working each day on developing their knowledge to understand the scientific method. In the last week, the students have shown that they are doing their best as their most recent tests have shown significant improvement to the previous week.
