My best memory at JPC would be the year 12 retreat as well as the co-curricular activities provided by the school.
Genyuan Qiu from Shenzhen in China, I graduated from John Paul College in Queensland, Australia. Studying at John Paul College allowed me to pursue my interest in aeronautical engineering.
During year 12 retreat, I had the opportunities to express myself to staff and students, which meant not only sharing experiences, but also deepening my understanding of myself. The unique social environment at retreat also highlighted the importance of building reliable friendships, which allowed me to be more unified with my peers and feel stronger in the face of difficulties.
The co-curriculars I participated were not only enjoyable, but also gave me chances to learn skills outside the classroom. JPC Yong Designer was the co-curricular which I contributed the most – it gave me the best environment in JPC to obtain skills and mindsets in the engineering field, which is my ultimate goal in the future. Besides, it allowed me to leave something permanent in the college:, the feeling of becoming a part of the college’s history have definitely made my time here without any regret.
With regards to academics, JPC always provided me with a wide range of choice since my first day here. Although I did not begin as a top student, with the help of so many responsible and skilful teachers, I could soar in the fields of interest and achieve great results.
JPC has also provided me with chances to participate in many exchange trips. I went to Japan and NASA, both of these are the place of dreams for me – without the help from JPC, it would be much harder to realise these dreams.
My university life is starting soon, I was eventually enrolled in UNSW, studying Mechatronics Engineering – a degree that can lead me to my dream career. John Paul College is the school of opportunities, I strongly recommend future Chinese students to join this big family, and fulfil your dreams.
I valued my time at John Paul College and would recommend it to other Chinese students. It has allowed me to follow my dreams.
