The International Primary Preparation Course (049712G) is for those students who have not yet reached the Entry Requirements for the John Paul College Primary School.

Students are placed in a class according to test results on arrival. Students spend twenty weeks studying in the Primary program. Students are regularly assessed in each of the language macro skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Letters and reports are sent with updates on your child’s progress. JPC Primary Years Program

JPC's Primary Years Program focuses on the development of the whole child and offers a concept-based transdisciplinary framework that is purposeful, engaging, relevant and authentic to our learners of today.

The inquiry-based approach of the Primary Years Program fosters internationally minded lifelong learners and promotes subject depth and breadth that enables students to make meaningful connections between disciplines.

Central to the Primary Years Program is the importance of skill development in our Primary School. Social thinking, communication, self-management and research skills are explicitly taught in authentic contexts, therefore equipping students with the tools to independently inquire and engage critically in our ever-changing world.

The learning outcomes of the Australian curriculum are a focus for us and are embedded authentically within our units of inquiry of the Primary Years Program resulting in students developing enduring understandings.

Our students are at the core of our teaching and learning program. Their learning needs prior knowledge. Aspirations, curiosities and questions drive learning experiences to ensure strong engagement and student growth. Evidence-based pedagogical strategies are at the forefront of our teachers’ practice whereby they acknowledge the impact of connecting learning experiences to contexts that are relevant and engaging for their students learning. Experiences are structured purposefully and are data driven. Questioning is used to engage and challenge. Feedback drives our students’ goal setting and multiple opportunities are provided for students to learn, consolidate and reapply their skills, knowledge and understanding.

It is through our College's evidence-based pedagogical framework, the internationally recognised Primary Years Program and the commitment of our passionate professional educators that our students are empowered to learn and achieve their personal best.
