On Our Own Campus

Your English, on the same campus as your school

At John Paul College, your ELICOS English preparation is taught on our own school campus — not outsourced to a separate language college across the city. Very few schools in Australia do this. Learning English where you will study builds a stronger foundation, faster. And a strong foundation is the key to a high ATAR and a place at a leading university.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What English level is required?

We welcome students from A1–A2 level (beginner to elementary). Your child's English will be assessed as part of the application, and our High School Preparation Program takes them through five structured stages – from Starter to Upper Intermediate – before they move into mainstream Years 7–11 classes.

Can my child start in Primary School?

Students under 12, or whose academic profile better suits Years 4–6, are guided into our Primary School Preparation Program instead. Our admissions team recommends the right entry point after your child's assessment.

How does the High School Preparation Program work?

Students are placed at one of five English levels (A1 to B2) based on their assessment, then progress through structured stages combining academic English, subject preparation and study skills. Most students reach direct entry to Years 7–8 or Years 9–11 within two to four terms, depending on their starting level.

What university pathways are available?

Students who complete JPC's Secondary pathway graduate with strong ATAR outcomes and direct connections to leading Australian universities, supported by dedicated careers and pathways staff from Year 10 onward.

Is Brisbane safe for international students?

Brisbane is consistently ranked among the safest and most liveable cities in the world. JPC's campus in Daisy Hill provides a secure, supervised environment, and our international team maintains close contact with every family throughout their child's time with us.

How is accommodation arranged?

We offer both Homestay and Boarding options, matched to your child's age and needs. Our Student Welfare team manages every placement and stays in contact with host families and boarding staff to make sure students settle in comfortably.
