Homestay Family

 

Could you be a Homes​tay Provider?

Being a Homestay Provider is a rewarding experience and we are always happy to receive expressions of interest from members of the community. As the safety of our international students is of utmost importance, we have a thorough screening process for all new applicants. Fill out the Homestay Provider Expression​ of Interest F​orm here.

What makes a JPC Homestay Family:

  • English is the main language spoken at home
  • A sense of compassion and understanding
  • Time to support an under 18 international student

High School Preparation and Secondary School Students

International students with us for long-term study in either our High School Preparation Course or Secondary School.

Homestay students are aged 12+ and come from a variety of regions such as Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong.
They require:

  • A well-furnished private bedroom
  • Access to a shared or private bathroom, laundry facilities and the communal areas in your home
  • Three meals a day plus some snacks
  • Transportation to/from College or a suitable, safe bus route. (Your home should be within a 30-minute drive and a maximum one-hour bus journey to the College)
  • Your time and support to help adapt to living in your home and studying at the College
  • To be able to join in your family activities

Study Tour Students

These students can be aged 12 – 17 years and come from a variety of regions in Asia. They can require accommodation for one week or up to one term.

  • Students are placed in pairs and can share a twin-bedded room.
  • They require access to a bathroom and communal area of your home, 
  • Three meals a day plus some snacks
  • As study tour students are only here for a short time, it is expected that Homestay Providers take them out-and-about to show them the sights of Brisbane and they join in with all family activities so they can experience an ‘Aussie way of life’
  • Students require transportation to/from the College - 8.20am start / 3.20pm finish. (They cannot use the school bus or public transport)

Reimbursement for Hosting Students

Homestay Providers receive a payment for hosting students, which is paid by the College in arrears​. More information is available upon Expression of Interest.
