or many, this marked the end of
a very long journey at John Paul
College with 49 of the graduating
cohort here since Prep. It was also
the end of the journey for several families who
have enjoyed a relationship spanning over
20 years with the College with many older
siblings previously graduating.
Many of the Seniors started the day with
a celebratory breakfast and after some quality
time with their Head of Year, Mrs Susanne
Jamieson, the students moved to the traditional
farewell service at St Edward’s Catholic Church
with staff, family and friends. During the
service, College Chaplain, Mr Steven Ward,
reflected on a wonderful year and shared some
of his personal memories with the cohort which
brought a tear to many eyes.
Following the service, the Year 12s moved
to a full school graduation assembly where
they were presented with their Graduation
folio by Headmaster, Mr Peter Foster and
Chairman of the Board, Mr Mark Fenton.
During the assembly, the Year 12 students
from the School of Performing Arts
entertained the audience one last time with
a wonderful rendition of
On Top of the
by Imagine Dragons.
The assembly was also the final
opportunity to celebrate the achievements
of Year 12 with the presentation of several
awards, including the Kate Christensen award
which was won by Brittney Haines. Following
the assembly they moved to the Bradley
Rocks area to deliver a spirited final War
Cry. The Primary School formed a Guard
of Honour for the students and their parents
as the moved to the ARC to enjoy some
refreshments and the final opportunities
to say goodbye to staff and classmates.
Overall it was an
emotional but exciting
day for our Class of 2012.
We wish them all the very
best as they embark
on the next chapter
of their adventure.
