New Athletics
Club in 2013
In 2013, John Paul College will have
its very own Athletics Club which will
compete in Queensland Athletics Meets.
This will be headed by Mr Antonio
McCray, a former US College Track
star who gained selection into the US
Olympic trials.
Mr McCray is now working in the
Physical Education department and
will use his extensive knowledge,
expertise and passion to drive the
Athletics Program.
We are aiming even
higher in 2013!
After a national study identified that
primary age girls in general lack basic
sporting skills and fitness, John Paul
College has designed and implemented
a Primary ‘Girls in Sport’ program.
Last term, over 70 primary girls attended
the three, one hour sessions each week
and we have visible evidence that our
primary girls have made significant
improvement in all areas.
We will build upon this in 2013,
as it is our aim to increase the
participation rates of our girls in
Primary sport.
Thank you to our Coaching Directors
who ensure that our students continue
to achieve excellence. Without them, our
students would not have the opportunity
to reach the levels of excellence that they
dream of, and it would not be possible
for our College to sustain its position as
one of the leading co-educational schools
for sport in Australia.
