John Paul College Girls Won Seventh National Schools Basketball

The John Paul College 2015 Open Women’s team claimed the College’s 7th National Championship title after defeating St Joseph’s Catholic College (NSW) at the Australian Schools Championships held in Canberra.

It was the seventh consecutive grand final appearance for the John Paul College women’s team at the Championships. The team convincingly won all their pool games and went into the final looking to better its silver medal from the 2014 Championships.

“Nothing beats a good team,” said Headmaster, Peter Foster, who was in Canberra to support the girls.

“Each and every player performed brilliantly over the duration of the Championships and their hard work throughout the year has paid enormous dividends,” he said.

“No school in the history of the Championships as won as many titles and we’re enormously proud of these girls and the ongoing success of our girls’ basketball programme.”

There will be little rest for the girls as they depart Brisbane on Sunday 6 December for an 18-day, 12 match tour of the United States with other John Paul College basketball players.
