Healthy Waterways Awards - JPC takes out People Choice Award

John Paul College took out the People’s Choice Award in the Queensland Healthy Waterways Awards held recently. We received $1,000 which will be put to very good use by Lucas Gilroy and the Finch Farm Committee.

John Paul College’s project ‘Green Me Up Scotty!’ has used a range of water management initiatives to reduce the school’s reliance on town water from 88 mega litres to 18 mega litres per annum.

This has been achieved through targeted investment in irrigation studies as well as turf and water management systems.

This includes installing 10 tank farms, tapping into bores, establishing waterways and wetland ecosystems, designing a pool plant recycling facility, installing water conserving facilities and implementing best-practice water and energy monitoring software.
