Homestay Programs

John Paul International College operates its own Homestay program where international students are welcomed into the homes of carefully selected and Government approved Australian host families.  These families often have their own children attending the College.  Host families undertake duty of care for students living with them.

Homestay students are provided with accommodation including all meals, and their own bedroom and study facility.

Living with an Australian family can be an invaluable part of an international student's learning experience in Australia, and enjoyable and rewarding for everyone.  Students and host families can learn about each other's cultures and lifestyles.  All Homestay families have a police clearance and their houses are inspected by the school prior to student placement.

Knowing your child is living with a carefully selected host family is extremely important.  Our host families will provide safety and security in a well supervised environment.  Homestay will be your child's home away from home.  Additionally, students who live in an English speaking Homestay perform better in English than other students because they are constantly interacting with English speakers.

Airport pick up can be arranged prior to arrival. A Brisbane-based transport company collects students from the International / Domestic airports and transfers the student to either the college / homestay.

Homestay accommodation is available for all students.  For students under 18, as John Paul College assumes responsibility for the welfare of the students who have been issued with a Visa to enter our College, we reserve the right to approve all accommodation arrangements.  Students not living with their parents or nominated relative must be in a registered John Paul International College homestay as per Public Interest Criterion 4012A and visa condition 8532, which govern care arrangements for student visa applicants/holders who have not turned 18 years of age.
