International School From China Visiting JPIC

John Paul International College and John Paul College are proud to welcome the students and teachers from Shenzhen Nanshan Bilingual School to the Study Abroad program.

The students arrived safely at Brisbane International Airport on Monday 16 April. When they arrived at John Paul College, they enjoyed pizza, fruit and cordial for lunch and took a tour around the JPC campus. The students were then very happy to meet their new Homestay families.

On Tuesday, the Shenzhen students gave a wonderful performance of Chinese songs, dancing, music and martial arts in the Queen Street Mall, in the centre of Brisbane’s CBD. The students performed again in the Stephen Bean Theatre at John Paul College for Acting Headmaster, Mr Norm Kerley, JPIC Manager of Education and Administration, Mr Michael Bos, Shenzhen Nanshan Bilingual School Principal, Mr Qui, John Paul International College students and staff and Year 6 students and staff of John Paul College on Thursday.

The students have been tested for their levels of Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening in English and are enjoying their English Language classes. The English teachers are: Ms Susan Burton (Koala class), Mrs Linda Steinhausen (Kangaroo class), Mrs Jacinda Pickering (Crocodile class) and Mrs Sue Tavares (Kookaburra class).

On Friday, 20 April, we will visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to hold a koala and feed a kangaroo, and Mt Coot-tha for a fantastic sightseeing experience of Brisbane.
