Performing Arts Program

The John Paul College School of Performing Arts has a far-reaching reputation for the outstanding professionalism of its productions and performances. The College's ensembles have contributed significantly to many national and international events over the past two decades.

Our comprehensive performance program is dedicated to excellence. Through orchestras, ensembles, rock bands, choirs, dance companies, drama productions and visual arts, we nurture talents, practise to perfection and create unforgettable experiences for every student.

All activities, lessons and rehearsals are held in state-of-the-art facilities that include classrooms, individual rehearsal studios, an auditorium and a dance studio.

The core of the School of Performing Arts is the tutorial program which offers over 700 students from Prep - Year 12 the opportunity to participate in group and private instrumental, vocal and dance lessons on a weekly basis. This is supported by over 30 ensembles including bands, choirs, dance and drama groups.

Programs Description
Instrumental Program
Students from Years 1 - 12 have the opportunity to be involved in the ensemble based performance program. Instrumental ensemble opportunities include Concert Bands, Stage Bands, Symphony Orchestra, String and Guitar Ensembles and other exciting ensembles.
Student involvement in the Instrumental Performance Program is focused on participation in performance groups and is supported by enrolment in group lessons with the option of private tuition. Students may also elect to undertake music examinations such as A.M.E.B, Trinity etc.

Years 4 – 6 Cheer and Dance Program
Choral and Vocal Program Choral Program is to provide as many students as possible with a positive choral experience. From the youngest and most inexperienced singer in the Primary School, through to highly accomplished and well-trained performers in Year 12, students are able to be part of a progressive choral program that caters for vocalists of all levels.
Drama Program Members of Youth Theatre perform at Drama showcase evenings and participate heavily in College musicals and musicfests. Student participation in the Youth Theatre Program requires a full year commitment.
Art Program This activity involves students working collaboratively and individually to create and present a range of visual art forms. Students undertake collaborative projects for areas in the school and explore personal art making projects.
Culture Club Culture Club is a group of enthusiastic supporters of the John Paul College performing arts program. The club is governed by a committee of dedicated and committed performing arts parents who meet once a month to discuss projects and initiatives.
